Package Design was a new course I developed
for the fall 2004 school year. I had been working on elements of the
class for almost 3 years (Package Design is a personal interest of mine)
but it wasn't until early summer of 2004 that the class was given the
green light for the following term. This was probably the most ambitious
and complicated class I have ever taught but I think it ended up a success.

This was the first non-lab course I had taught so I knew it would require
an enormous amount of lecture material. I made sure to incorporate plenty
of real-world examples, lots of in-class activities as well as hundreds
of slides compiled from months of research to make the class engaging
and informative.
Some
of my favorite units were on DVD/CD package design and toy design. I
had managed to pull together a broad base of content for those topics
including interviews with corporate designers.
