Shortly after the conclusion of MainEvent 2004
I started work on the first ever WF360 DVD. The video was converted
from 5 miniDV tapes and then edited down to two 90 minute movies that
fit onto 2 DVDs.
This was my first major video project so there were a lot of firsts
to learn but I was able to accomplish all the tasks in less than a month
including printing of the cover designs for the jacket inserts which
included a time-consuming but very unique metal foiling technique (see
description below).

For the opening DVD menu screen I rendered out a rotating globe element
from a 3D Package and then exported the frames into an AVI for editing
back into Pinnacle Studio Pro.
The chapter breaks were fairly easy to define since MainEvent is broken
down into a set of Conversations that have different speakers and topics.
Burning of the final discs was a bit of a challenge because I had to
track down the right media that had the highest degree of compatibility
across all brands of players. After several bad burns and almost-there
trials I found Ridata G04 discs using a Plextor DVD-R dive gave the
best results.
I wanted the jacket insert for the DVD packaging to be unique so I utilized
a special heat-transfer foil process for the MainEvent lettering on
the front face. In the graphic shown here, the foil is simulated but
the final prints displayed an impressive reflective finish.
